Run as a Green

David Cobb, former Green presidential candidate, described the Green Party as the electoral arm of a growing movement in this country for peace, social justice, and environmental protection. The Prairie Greens would like to see Greens elected to office at every level to put into place the Ten Key Values of the Green Party.

To learn which offices are available, please the Champaign County s Office at www.champaigncountyclerk.com and the Illinois State Board of Elections homepage at www.elections.state.il.us.

Illinois ranks in the top ten hardest states to get on the ballot as a new party. Thanks to Rich Whitney's excellent performance in the 2006 gubernatorial election, the Green Party now has established party status in Illinois.  Greens now have the same petition requirements as the Republicans and Democrats.  We continue to support Illinois Election Code reforms to reduce the requirements for ballot access for all new parties.
