The Green Party has three separate levels of organization: National, State, and Local.
In terms of hierarchy, local Green Parties and the grassroots Greens that run them make most of the decisions for that party. The state and national party serve to connect locals and organize electoral and issue campaigns that take place on a larger geographic level than the area encompassed by the local Green Party.
Local: Prairie Greens
The Prairie Green Party of East Central Illinois consists mostly of members and campaigns in Champaign County, but also welcomes Greens from Ford, Vermilion, Piatt, Macon, Douglass and Edgar Counties.
The Prairie Greens elect officers in April of each year. Currently the officers are- Convener: Mark Mallon

State: Illinois Green Party

IGP decisions are made by representatives from each local party to the Coordinating Committee (CC). The Coordinating Committee, in turn, selects 5 members to serve as the members of the executive committee. The members of the executive committee are the co-chairs of the Illinois Green Party.

National: Green Party of the United States
The Green Party of the United States currently has 44 organized state parties. GPUS is run by the Coordinating Committee, a Committee that consists of representatives from all of the states whose number is proportional to the number of Greens and their strength in each state.
