Newsletter
Tom created our newsletter, which contains information on IRV and the primary on February 5th. We have addresses from the last mailing, and will mail by February 5th. Susan will make copies and get stamps. Joe will make labels. Tracy, Joe, Tom, and Kostas will stuff envelopes on Wednesday night.
Primary Awareness
We plan to write a letters to various newspapers. We need to educate the public about the Green Party Convention in Chicago. We need to impress on voters why they should not only vote in the primaries, but vote Green in the primaries. Joe stressed Illinois is the Iowa of the Green We spent some time brainstorming on what we'd write in the letter.
Joe will write a letter/press release to the News Gazette; Al will write a letter about Cynthia McKinney; and Tom will write a press release.
Candidate Recruitment
There are still seats open for anyone interested in running for office. We especially need someone for State Representative and District 9.
Future Events
A meeting on the toxic site in Champaign will be on January 19th. We will issue a public statement of support, and issue a press release.
We plan to have a party/fund raising event for our candidates in March, after the slating deadline.
Our next Green Tea will present information about IRV. We will invite Laurel Prussing to attend.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25.
