October 2007 Membership Meeting

In attendance: Joe, Walter, Mark, Tom, Susan, Kostas, and Tracy

STATE PARTY MEMBERSHIP MEETING -- Tom, Susan, Walter, and Joe are all attending. If you need a ride, feel free to contact them. The Peace and Justice Unity March is also that day, so those who cannot attend the ILGP membership meeting are encouraged to march and wear your Green Party t-shirts. Prairie Greens are co-sponsoring this march, so it's important for us to have a noticeable presence.

IRV PETITIONING -- We achieved our petition goal for Instant Run-Off Voting. We got 1,062 signatures, well above what we needed. Jan and Durl will host a pot-luck dinner on Saturday, October 27. There we will make more plans on educating the populace about what IRV is in order to get this referendum passed.

PRESIDENTIAL PETITIONING -- The Campus Greens have already started petitioning, and have been doing well. Susan will get the petitioning gear together, and we will have petitions at the Farmer’s Market from now until the last tabling on November 5th.

COUNTY BOARD CAMPAIGN UPDATE -- A fund raising letter for Joe and Walter will be created very soon. Walter’s fund raising party was very successful, and he plans to have more. A pre-election 2008 Prairie Greens fund raising party was tentatively scheduled for early November.

SUSTAINING DONORS -- prairiegreens.org now enables sustaining donorship. The donate page now has buttons for monthly donations. Everyone is encouraged to give using this easy new system.

MEMBERSHIP -- Kostas will be organizing membership retention activites including email and phone-banking campaigns.

PRAIRIE VOTER -- prairievoter.org has been hit with spam and general lack of activity. Greens are encouraged to post and Joe will clean out spam.

GREEN TEA -- The topic of October 15th's Green Tea is local food. Susan, Tom, Eric W., and Julie will talk to us about this healthy and environmentally positive way of eating, and share dishes made from ingredients grown and made locally.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45.
