July 2007 Membership Meeting
In attendance: Carol, Mark, Joe, Chris, Robert, Susan, Tom, Kevin, Eric, and Tracy

The Farmers Market

This Saturday (July 7th), Tracy and Mark (who usually set up with Kevin), will be out of town, so Joe and Chris will help Kevin set up. Chris, Kevin, and Joe will close. Tracy promises to fill in for Joe in the future to make up for her absence.

July 4th Parade

Tom got us a spot in the parade, whose theme this year is "A Salute to Free Enterprise." Mark and Eric will dress in Democratic and Republican costumes, and carry signs saying, "Candidates for sale to the highest bidder." The rest of the Greens will carry signs saying, "the Green Party is not for sale." We will also pull wagons with pretty plants in them highlighting the theme "Green and Growing." Susan planned on bringing the banner.

Treasury Business

Our net profit from the yard sale will cover our rent for the next quarter.

Susan and Joe are working on setting up a sustainer account. We now have a Pay Pal account, which will be used for future sustainer donations.

Candidate Recruitment

We need a congressional candidate for our district! If anyone is interested in running (or knows someone who is), please donŐt hesitate to contact us.

Robert talked about "paleoconservativism," and a possible bid for Urbana City Council on an anti-sprawl platform, on the Republican ticket. The membership generally agreed that we do not support Republican candidacies.

State Business

Susan reported that the National Party meeting will be held July 12thĐ15th in Reading, Penn. Susan and Tom will be attending as Prairie Green delegates.

The State Party meeting in Rockford has been postponed due to construction at the college. Details on a new venue are forthcoming.

Miscellaneous

Susan will be out of town until August 1st.

Mark is going to attend an AWARE meeting this Sunday (July 15th) to talk with them about any interest they might have in running for office as a Green candidate.

We discussed budgeting for a number of recurring costs e.g., regular, periodic newsletter mailings.

Our next Green Tea will focus on the "faddish" Green consumerism movement.

We are still interested in planning a day trip to Allerton Park, and Joe is planning a pool party.
