Newsletter
Tom created our newsletter, which contains information on IRV and the primary on February 5th. We have addresses from the last mailing, and will mail by February 5th. Susan will make copies and get stamps. Joe will make labels. Tracy, Joe, Tom, and Kostas will stuff envelopes on Wednesday night.
In attendance: Joe, Walter, Mark, Tom, Susan, Kostas, and Tracy
STATE PARTY MEMBERSHIP MEETING -- Tom, Susan, Walter, and Joe are all attending. If you need a ride, feel free to contact them. The Peace and Justice Unity March is also that day, so those who cannot attend the ILGP membership meeting are encouraged to march and wear your Green Party t-shirts. Prairie Greens are co-sponsoring this march, so it's important for us to have a noticeable presence.
IRV PETITIONING -- We achieved our petition goal for Instant Run-Off Voting. We got 1,062 signatures, well above what we needed. Jan and Durl will host a pot-luck dinner on Saturday, October 27. There we will make more plans on educating the populace about what IRV is in order to get this referendum passed.
In attendance: Joe, Tom, Susan, Walter, Carol, Tracy
Joe Futrelle announced his candidacy for Champaign County Board district 8 and Walter Pituc announced his candidacy for Champaign County Board district 7.
A planning meeting will be convened soon.
A brief national and state update was provided, but will be elaborated when more members are in attendance. The major issue is who to petition for in the presidential primary. This will be discussed in detail at the in person state Coordinating Committee meeting on August 26th. We plan on having a fundraiser that evening, which needs to be planned out.
